Mini Me

This assignment was actually called "Hard Select" but I prefer "Mini Me" because the assignment was to miniaturize ourselves and Photoshop ourselves into a different scene. So, I got out my shrink ray and aimed it at myself. My dad helped me up onto the string of his ukulele.....and that's how we got this shot ;) kinda....For the self portrait I was hanging on monkey bars at the park to try to mimic the way I would be hanging from the string of a ukulele. And when I shot the ukulele, I pulled down the bottom string with some fishing wire to make it look like something was pulling down on it. I pasted myself into the picture (after some hard core detailed delete work) and painted in some shadows to make it look realistic......but I like the shrink ray story much better...

Down and Dirty

Our latest photo assignment was to make pictures of things from underneath them: Down and Dirty. This is a shot of my Fender guitar amp in my bedroom from underneath. The angle adds a lot of drama that wouldn't be there if you took the picture from above. I also took out some of the color in the background to add to the affect of the red knobs and the red circle in the speaker.

CD Cover

Our most recent project in photography was to chose, from a hat, a genre of music, and then create a group, album, songs, and album design to reflect the style of music we chose. The genre that was given to me was Classical Music (Very difficult to make interesting!). My group is The Angel String Orchestra, and their album is called Arias from the Attic. The first document is the inside cover and front cover (just imagine folding it in half to put it in a CD case). The second document is the back cover, with all the song titles and such.

I think that my CD cover represents classical music very well with the text style, song titles, and subjects of the photos. I also like the repeating color palate throughout.

Spring Awakening

Well Spring is FINALLY here!! And that means warm weather, rain, and flowers!.....or at least dandelions. I like this picture of dandelions because of the shallow depth of field and the contrast between the plant and the harsh brick and asphalt. And you can practically see the flower unfolding right before your eyes.

Light as a Subject

This is a photography assignment of light as a subject. Light is a VERY diverse subject, so the pictures I made are all very very different.

This is my friend Daylon on the 27 hour bus ride down to Florida to perform with our choir at Disney World. The warm light though the bus window gives the picture a nice warm look.

This picture was taken in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. (Other than the sun as a subject) there's a metal palm tree. In the background are some of Tomorrowland's attractions. Everything is space-themed and futuristic. I think the light adds a lot to this picture by giving something else to draw your eye and contribute to the space/futuristic theme.

This light-covered bug was a part of the light parade at Magic Kingdoms. I think it portrays light a s a subject very well :)

On the way home from Florida (another 27 hour bus ride) I had a lot of time to take pictures again. I made a lot of pictures of car headlights as we passed them in the bus. I tried at first to put my camera on sport mode, but it didn't catch enough time as the vehicles passed, so I changed it to fireworks mode which worked really well to catch the full length of the headlights, tail lights, or any other lights that I wanted to make pictures of. I made this picture as we drove through a town with lots of lit-up signs. I like this picture because it's very abstract and I think it shows light as a subject well. (This is my favorite of the selection.)

This picture was also taken on the bus ride home from Florida. The sun was shining through the clouds and I thought it just looked majestic (much cooler in real life). Aaaaaand...that's all folks :)
